KNOW THE COURSE!
Point to Point races are a blast, but do require some logistical attention. The bike course specifically has technical climbs and turns requiring your attention. Study the maps below, know the course, and you'll have a great day!
GEAR BAGS
Each athlete will be provided a gear bag. You can also use your own gear bag, in fact, we encourage it! Please make sure it is marked with your name and contact information. We are providing you with "luggage tags" & stickers with your race number to attach to your gear bag.
YOU MUST attach the provided race number luggage tag and also mark your bag with your number.
This event is a CLEAN TRANSITION event. Which means: Before you leave the transition area on your bike, place ALL of your swim gear (including your wetsuit) in your bag. Leave your gear bag in your bike rack area.
If your gear bag is not marked, or if you left something out of the bag (like a $600 wetsuit), we will have no idea who’s it is and it will be set-aside.
THE SWIM
The expected water temp in September is between 64-72º.
At the swim start, please look for the signs for average swim paces per 100 yards and seed yourself according to your swimming ability. From here we will be conducting a rolling start. What does this mean? We will funnel athletes through a chute, approximately 10 feet wide, into the water. Once you cross the timing mat, your race time starts.
Swimmers will enjoy an open water swim start and will head south and proceed in a rectangular, counter-clockwise manner and will exit the water to T1 (1 loop for sprint distance, 2 loops for Intermediate(olympic) distance)
If you find yourself in need of support while in the water, simply wave your hand/ arms or swim to the nearest support team member. You may hold on to any support vessel without penalty as long as there is no forward movement.
You will be provided a swim cap which must be worn during the swim.
THE BIKE
The bike course is challenging and fun! What else do you expect from a National Championship race? Use caution and stay in control at all times.
Bikers will exit T1 on single track shortly and merge onto State roads, crossing over Pineview Dam, and onto the trails, beginning the climb to Snowbasin.
If you are racing the Aquabike, your finish-line is when you cross the timing mats as you enter T2.
THE RUN
Both the Sprint and Intermediate run courses are loops surrounding Snowbasin Ski Resort. Look for signs with ribbons and small red A-frame signs.
Aid stations will be at every mile. Each aid station will have water, electrolyte replacement, high fives and music.
