KNOW THE COURSE!
Point to Point races are a blast, but do require some logistical attention. The bike course specifically has technical climbs and descents requiring your attention. Study the maps, know the course, and you'll have a great day! Below is a link with detailed map of the race course.
Each athlete will be provided a gear bag. You can also use your own gear bag, in fact, we encourage it! Please make sure it is marked with your name and contact information. We are providing you with "luggage tags" with your race number to attach to your gear bag.
YOU MUST attach the provided race number luggage tag and also mark your bag with your number.
Before you leave the transition area on your bike, place ALL of your swim gear (including your wetsuit) in your bag. Leave your gear bag in your bike rack station.
If your gear bag is not marked, or if you left something out of the bag (like a $600 wetsuit), we will have no idea who’s it is and it will be set-aside at T2. Per USAT rules, you also risk a 2 minute penalty if you do not place all items in your T1 gear bag. DO NOT LEAVE valuable items such as phones, keys, etc. in your gear bag. Because space is limited in T1 and in the transportation vehicles, we will not shuttle down items that were not a necessity for your race (lawn chairs, buckets, etc). If you bring your own bike pump, be sure your name is on it, or you risk losing it.
TriUtah staff and volunteers will transport all the bags to T2 for you.
The expected water temp in August is between 64-72º.
At the swim start, please look for the signs for average swim paces per 100 yards and seed yourself according to your swimming ability. From here we will be conducting a rolling start. What does this mean? We will funnel athletes through a chute, approximately 10 feet wide, into the water. Once you cross the timing mat, your race time starts.
The start will be at the boat dock! Each athlete will cross the timing mats, and run on the dock and jump feet first into the water to start the swim! Its a blast and we know you'll love it!
Why the rolling start? If everyone seeds themselves correctly, it’s safer, reduces congestion, and athletes can start together with friends and family members regardless of age/gender.
Swimmers will enjoy an open water swim start and will head northeast in a rectangular, counter-clockwise manner and will exit the water to T1 (1 loop for sprint distance, 2 loops for Intermediate(olympic) distance)
If you find yourself in need of support while in the water, simply wave your hand/ arms or swim to the nearest support team member. You may hold on to any support vessel without penalty as long as there is no forward movement.
You will be provided a swim cap which must be worn during the swim.
The bike course is fast and challenging! Use caution and stay in control at all times.
Sprint distance cyclists will head left out of the marina, downhill towards Morgan City and T2. Be careful of the first few turns. They are tight and steep, and yes, we've seen accidents on this course. Historic "Botts Bend" is named after Brian Botts, a local favorite athlete who crashed so hard, he dented the steel barriers on the side of the road. So, PLEASE... be careful. 'nuff said.
The Olympic cyclists will exit the marina by turning right and will climb and descend a small, steep, winding hill before going south toward the East Canyon Resort for 6 miles, where they’ll make a U-turn and head back passing the Marina, and speed downhill for 12 miles into Morgan City.
CAUTION: The first few turns heading downhill toward Morgan are STEEP and TIGHT. Be careful! We recommend driving the course before race day, to better know the route.
NOTE: There are NO aid stations on the bike course. Please have at least 2 bottles of water on your bike before heading out.
NEW RUN COURSE!
Both the Sprint and Intermediate run courses are out and back. Athletes will loop around Riverside Park, and exit the trail heading north, then East on Round Valley Road. You will see cyclists racing toward transition! The sprint turnaround just past the County Fairgrounds on Round Valley Road. The Olympic distance continues up Roundvalley Road (watch out for oncoming cyclists as you pass the sprint turnaround), up a couple short challenging hills, and turnaround near the golf course club house.
The run is slightly uphill for the first half, before turning around and heading on a gradual downhill on the second half. Athletes run the perimeter of Riverside Park, where the shaded, grassy finish-line awaits.
Aid stations will be at every mile. Each aid station will have water, electrolyte replacement, high fives and music.

Sprint Run Course: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5675177167
Overall and Age-Group awards will be presented at 10:30am for the Sprint distance and 11:00am for the Intermediate (olympic) distance.
The Aquabike race begins with the triathlon and follows the triathlon course. The only difference is that your race officially finishes when you cross into the transition area with your bike. Be sure to head over to the finish-line area for your medal, awards, etc.
The Duathlon begins immediately following the triathlon start with the bike segment, following the triathlon course. Depending on the total number of participants, you will either start in the transition area, lined up single file, OR outside of transition. Your race will start as a time-trial start (one at a time, 3-5 seconds apart)

See "Course info and Maps" section for important Information regarding Gear Bags. Each athlete will be provided a gear bag. YOU MUST mark your bag with your number and place ALL of your swim gear (including your wetsuit) in the bag before leaving T1 on the bike. There is limited space for spectators at the start. Any spectators at the swim will be REQUIRED to wait until ALL swimmers have exited T1 and are on the bike course before they are allowed to leave the swim venue. So plan on staying and cheering on the athletes as they exit the swim!
To avoid accidents and limit traffic congestion on the bike course, spectators will have to drive a separate route through Henefer and I-80. back too Morgan.
Dropping off athletes at East Canyon Marina on Saturday morning is allowed, but vehicle parking is extremely limited. You are also required to pay an entrance fee into the marina area by East Canyon State Park if you decide to stay and watch the swim. If spectators drive to the venue, they will have to wait until ALL athletes have left the swim venue before they can exit East Canyon Marina, drive to Morgan via Henefer and are NOT be allowed to drive down the canyon on the bike course.
PARKING IN MORGAN- On Race Day, ALL PARKING in Morgan will be at Morgan High School. The city is requiring that there be NO street parking. Absolutely NO PARKING at the Bowling Alley or fitness across from Riverside Park.
PARKING AT EAST CANYON-
The Utah Highway Patrol and Weber County Sheriff will be present and ready to ticket and tow anyone who parks on the roads leading into East Canyon Resort. So, park in the designated areas inside East Canyon State Park.
**Please plan ahead. You will need to either: 1) Drop your bike off and set up your gear Friday evening (recommended), or 2) Have a driver drop you off on race morning. It will be much easier and less stressful if you arrive Friday evening, check in your bike, set up your gear, and then ride the shuttle on race day morning.
PLAN FOR RAIN- even if it is not in the forecast!
SHUTTLES - BIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SHUTTLE!
